YESAction ("YESAction," "we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, share, and protect information when you visit our website, create an account, join a chapter, enroll in the Sustainability Leadership Training Program (SLTP), or otherwise interact with our Services.

Because many of our users are high school students, we take extra care in how we collect and handle information from young people. Please read this policy carefully, and if you are under 18, we encourage you to review it together with a parent or guardian.

1. Information We Collect

Information you provide directly:

  • Name, email address, and school or chapter affiliation when you sign up, log in, or join a chapter
  • Information submitted through forms, such as "Start a Chapter," "Get Involved," or SLTP enrollment
  • Capstone project materials, photos, or written content you submit as part of SLTP or chapter initiatives
  • Messages you send us, including via contact@yesaction.org
  • Donation information, if you choose to contribute (processed via our payment provider; we do not store full payment card details)

Information collected automatically:

  • Device and browser information, IP address, and general location (city/region level)
  • Usage data, such as pages visited, time spent on the site, and referral source
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 5)

Information from third parties:

  • If your school or chapter sponsor enrolls you or provides information on your behalf, we may receive limited contact details from them

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account and dashboard access
  • Administer chapter membership and SLTP enrollment, progress tracking, and certification
  • Communicate with you about initiatives, events, and program updates
  • Improve our website, curriculum, and Services
  • Process donations and issue tax receipts
  • Maintain the safety and integrity of our community
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information.

3. Information from Children and Teens

YESAction's Services are designed for high school students, many of whom are minors. We are committed to complying with applicable laws protecting children's and student privacy, including, where applicable, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

  • We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.
  • If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information without appropriate consent, please contact us at contact@yesaction.org and we will promptly delete it.
  • For users under 18, we limit the collection and public display of personal information to what is reasonably necessary for chapter participation and SLTP certification.
  • Parents and guardians may contact us to review, correct, or request deletion of their child's information.

4. How We Share Information

We may share information with:

  • Chapter sponsors and school contacts, to coordinate local initiatives, where relevant
  • Service providers, such as website hosting (Webflow), membership management (Memberstack), email, and payment processors, who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations
  • Legal authorities, if required by law, subpoena, or to protect the safety of our community
  • Successor organizations, in the event of a merger, reorganization, or similar transition of our nonprofit operations

We do not share information with third parties for their own marketing purposes.

5. Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to remember your preferences, keep you logged in, and understand how visitors use our site. You can control cookies through your browser settings; disabling cookies may limit some features, such as staying logged into your dashboard.

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this policy, including maintaining chapter records and SLTP certification history, unless a longer retention period is required by law. You may request deletion of your account information at any time, subject to Section 3 above and our recordkeeping obligations as a nonprofit organization.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access, correct, or delete your personal information

  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent
  • Request a copy of your data in a portable format

YESAction operates chapters in the United States and China.
