YESOutreach
Growing YES Action's presence by connecting new students, schools, and community members to the movement.
The Problem We're Solving
A great initiative only creates impact if people know about it and choose to get involved. Many students who would genuinely care about environmental action have simply never heard of YES Action, or don't know how to start a chapter at their own school. Meanwhile, existing chapters often operate in isolation, unaware of what's working a few towns - or a few countries - over. Without a deliberate outreach effort, growth stays limited to word-of-mouth, and promising chapters quietly stall out from lack of new members. Outreach is what turns individual chapters into an actual network.
Foundation
Every chapter participating in YES Outreach should:
Run at least one recruitment push per semester (a club fair table, class announcements, social media push, or info session) to bring in new members, and maintain a simple contact list or sign-up sheet so interested students have a clear way to get involved.
Give any new member a short onboarding — even 15 minutes — so they understand what YES Action does and how to plug into an existing initiative.
This foundation alone builds environmental literacy at scale. Most people don't need to be convinced sustainability matters — they need to be shown exactly what to do about it.
Going Further
Chapters that want to extend their impact can::
Help launch a brand-new chapter at a neighboring school by sharing your materials, templates, and lessons learned, and build relationships with local businesses, community centers, or youth organizations that could sponsor events or amplify your work.
Represent YES Action at community events, town halls, or local environmental conferences to raise visibility beyond your school.
Awareness alone rarely changes behavior — repetition and community accountability do. Pairing consistent online content with real-world touchpoints turns passive followers into people who've actually changed a habit, not just read about one.
How We Support You
YESAction is here to help. Chapters working on YESOutreach can reach out to us for:
A "start a chapter" toolkit you can hand off to students at other schools, and funded entrance to any environmental conferences which require an admissions fee.
Banners and posters necessary to run a club fair or conference stand.
Social media templates and messaging to make recruitment easier.
Advice from chapter leaders who have grown their membership from a handful of students to a full club.
Recognition
As we roll out our chapter recognition system, your chapter's participation in YESOutreach will count toward your standing. Chapters that complete the foundation — representing YESAction locally and raising sustainability awareness — will be recognized. Chapters that go further by attending national events or recruiting new chapters will earn higher recognition.
