The Problem We're Solving
Great sustainability work doesn't spread on its own — it needs a bridge to the wider community. Without active outreach, chapters risk staying insular, disconnected from local events, other chapters, and the broader youth movement that could amplify their impact. Many students also miss out on developing public speaking and presentation skills simply because they never have a structured reason to represent something they care about in front of others.
Foundation
Every chapter participating in YESOutreach should:
Represent YESAction at local community events — hosting booths, organizing activities, and making YESAction's presence known.
Raise awareness about sustainability among youth, connecting the message back to YESAction's principles and objectives.
This foundation alone builds environmental literacy at scale. Most people don't need to be convinced sustainability matters — they need to be shown exactly what to do about it.
Going Further
Chapters that want to extend their impact can:
Represent YESAction beyond the local level — participating in regional or national events, like YESOutreach's upcoming appearance at Oregon SciFest.
Build their own creative extensions — interactive activities, lectures, or booth concepts that engage attendees, and recruiting new chapters to expand the network. If your chapter does something new, share it with us so other chapters can learn from your work.
Awareness alone rarely changes behavior — repetition and community accountability do. Pairing consistent online content with real-world touchpoints turns passive followers into people who've actually changed a habit, not just read about one.

Recognition
As we roll out our chapter recognition system, your chapter's participation in YESOutreach will count toward your standing. Chapters that complete the foundation — representing YESAction locally and raising sustainability awareness — will be recognized. Chapters that go further by attending national events or recruiting new chapters will earn higher recognition.
