Every day, our oceans are burdened with approximately 8 million pieces of plastic pollution. This excessive influx suffocates marine life and contaminates our precious waters. Alarmingly, about 80% of global wastewater is discharged into water bodies without any treatment, posing numerous health risks. This particularly affects the staggering 2.2 billion people who lack access to safe drinking water. Despite many people believing they are well-informed, the extensive problem of water pollution impacts our lives in more ways than we often realize. It's an issue we can't afford to overlook.
Introducing YESWater
Recognizing the urgency of the situation, YESAction proudly presents YESWater, our initiative dedicated to protecting water sources and minimizing plastic consumption. YESWater is rooted in four core principles:
Advocating Awareness and Action:
Most of the public thinks they're informed, but the nuances and depth of water pollution are largely unknown. By bringing this information to the forefront, YESWater seeks to challenge misconceptions.
Search for Innovative Solutions: Traditional approaches are proving inadequate. YESWater strives to implement new, groundbreaking solutions to conserve and clean our water.
Promote Cross-Sector Collaboration:
This significant challenge cannot be addressed by any single entity. Therefore, YESWater advocates for alliances across various sectors, harnessing the power of collective efforts
Nurturing Future Leaders: Our youth hold the key to the future. By instilling a sense of responsibility and imparting knowledge, YESWater aims to raise the next generation of water conservation leaders.
YESWater in Action
YESWater provides support to various chapters for a range of activities. This includes launching educational campaigns to educate the public about water pollution and plastic usage. Alongside this, YESWater assists chapters in establishing water conservation activities and promoting water-efficient habits. Furthermore, YESWater offers resources and guidance for water source testing to ensure communities have access to clean and safe drinking water.
