YESAction Shines at the Oregon Science Festival!

Recently, YESAction made a noteworthy appearance at the Oregon Science Festival, a highly anticipated event hosted by the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI). It was an experience brimming with enthusiasm, knowledge, and community engagement. Our participation aimed not only to enlighten but also to pave the way for a brighter future in the field of science and environmental education.
Led by our founder, Serene Duan, and our YESOutreach Initiative Director, Jwan Magsoosi, the YESAction booth was an instant hit! The energy and curiosity that surrounded it were palpable, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the opportunity to interact with such a diverse and eager crowd.

The festival was a melting pot of innovation and creativity. We had the pleasure of connecting with numerous local robotic teams, esteemed school and teacher associations, a fascinating rocketry program, and a plethora of other remarkable science organizations. Each interaction was a testament to the passion Oregon holds for science and its continuous evolution.
But our mission at the festival wasn’t just about networking. We were on a quest to inspire. We hoped to sow the seeds of YESAction deep into the Oregon soil, motivating the bright students we encountered to initiate YESAction chapters and kickstart YESAction initiatives in their own communities.

In conclusion, the Oregon Science Festival was a resounding success for YESAction. We not only forged valuable connections but also took significant steps toward expanding our reach in Oregon. Here’s to the next generation of scientists, environmentalists, and community leaders!

To add a pinch of fun to our educational outreach, YESAction introduced an interactive cup game. Visitors were encouraged to pick a number from 1-5. Each number corresponded to an environmental-related question. A correct answer was celebrated, while an incorrect one became a learning opportunity. We took moments like these to educate our visitors on the given topic, ensuring that everyone left our booth with newfound knowledge. And of course, for those who participated, there was a playful challenge: they were given 3 chances to toss a ball into the cups, with the sweet reward of candies waiting for successful shots!
